Womanhood

Womanhood

2012 – 2023, Photography, Painting, Poetry

A series of performances.

Depictions

of the female body

in symbolic red

and a plastic bust

taking place

of my perishable one.

A denial of beauty.

And in the end

what is it that judges me,

defines me?

Is it my gender?

This identity

that was born

from where you are born.

Is it my ability to feed you,

and the presence of death every month?

Or maybe the absence of it

making me unworthy

of the perpetuation of the species.

In here,

in this visual adulthood

there are no ideals.

Romance

This uncanny looking flower
which sprouted
in the center of one's garden
is violently blooming
in the absence of the other.
An echoic reminder
of the waiting
until the returning.
When the one
is back
the flower is exempted
by this necessity
of declaring its presence.
The restless flower
appeases
until (s)he is gone again.

WORMS

Cremains

Nights melted down by the light of dawn

Isolation

Hands worn down from digging in

The depths

Of arid land

Spirit’s ground I keep hold of

Worms of unavailing recollection

Inside polished coffins

Sucking out

And they repay

...
